WOLVERHAMPTON have been handed a massive boost with the news that Great Britain World Cup star Tai Woffinden is ready to return to action.
Woffinden, who suffered a broken scaphoid last month, has been given the all-clear by a specialist and is expected to return to the Parrys International Wolves side for their derby clash with Birmingham at Monmore on Monday.
He will miss Thursday's trip to Swindon as he needs to work on match fitness and will practice at his local track Sheffield before heading to Poland for some valuable track time.
Wolves owner Chris Van Straaten said: "This is great news obviously and it will be good to have Tai back for Monday in what is a big meeting against our local rivals.
"He needs to get some track time under his belt and he will be a bit nervous at first I guess, but it's great news for Wolverhampton and also for Great Britain."
Woffinden, fresh from his hospital appointment, said: “It’s healing, it’s not healed, but I am allowed to start riding again. The doctor said I could start riding; he didn’t say racing. But I’m going to take riding as meaning racing.
“I’m going jet skiing tomorrow morning and then I’m going to practice at Sheffield on Thursday after the meeting. I’m going to fly to Poland on Friday morning and practice there.
“I’ll race on Sunday and Monday and then I’m off for a spa day on Tuesday with my girlfriend. That’s my plan for the week."
