GREAVES TO DOUBLE UP

Tuesday June 05, 2018
WOLVERHAMPTON reserve Nathan Greaves has secured a secondary team spot – much to the delight of promoter Chris Van Straaten.

The 20-year-old has signed a 28-day contract with Championship side Redcar after impressing during a guest booking for the Bears last week.

Parrys International Wolves management have also confirmed he was on the verge of sealing a temporary National League contract, only for the move to be blocked at the final hour.

But they feel any extra bike time will prove to be hugely beneficial.

Said Van Straaten: “We’re delighted for Nathan and it’s a well deserved opportunity for him.

“As we’ve said previously, we were very surprised when he didn’t start the season with a Championship team place as well, but this is a chance to prove himself again at that level.

“He did have an additional opportunity to join one National League side also, but that move was unfortunately thwarted by the BSPA (British Speedway Promoters’ Association).

“But both Nathan and ourselves will benefit from these extra meetings for Redcar and we’re sure he’ll build on some of those encouraging performances he’s shown for Wolverhampton in recent weeks.”

The Parrys International Wolves travel to Somerset in the Premiership on Wednesday (June 13, 7.30) before returning to Monmore on Monday, June 18 (7.30) as they look to overturn a 24-point deficit in their Knockout Cup tie against Belle Vue.

The meeting falls on the same night as England’s World Cup opener against Tunisia – which will be broadcast in the bar and restaurant areas.
